Driving or walking along, you’ll be treated to twinkling lights, pictures and light displays in celebration of South Africa, the Mother City, and the people that live here. It’s a fun outing on Christmas Eve or after a delicious Christmas dinner.

The Cableway is one of Cape Town’s must-see attractions, and the holiday period is a great time to enjoy the panoramic views, fresh air and family-friendly atmosphere at the summit. Visitors can explore the walking paths, spot wildlife, capture photos of the Twelve Apostles and enjoy a relaxed day out in nature.
If you’re looking for a spot of Christmas Lunch, the Table Mountain cafe will also be serving a traditional Christmas-themed lunch for all visitors. You can take the City Sightseeing Red Bus, which stops right at the Lower Cableway Station for easy access.
For the festive season, the V&A Waterfront offers more than just shopping and meals. Enjoy live open-air concerts and festive music under the stars. Explore outdoor markets and stores featuring handcrafted gifts and local designs — perfect for finding unique Christmas presents. Hop on a harbour or sunset cruise for beautiful views of the city and sea at dusk. Visit the Aquarium, a contemporary art museum or ride the waterfront’s big wheel for family-friendly fun. Wrap up your day with a delicious lunch or dinner at one of the waterfront’s many restaurants, or simply stroll along the harbour under the holiday lights with friends and family.

If you’re looking for a tranquil, relaxing Christmas in one of Cape Town’s most picturesque locations, the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens is the place to be. Take the opportunity to enjoy a picnic on the lush green lawns amongst the trees and flowers, taking walks when you please in between enjoying your picnic (be sure to bring your own!).
